Mistakes...
In my elderhood, I've about outlasted my fear of mistakes. When I was young, I missed many opportunities to be alive for fear of making a mistake. Looking back, it seems more the opinions and expectations of those around me than any potential painful repercussions that rendered me hesitant to act.
Now, it is often the mistakes I recall most fondly. Some of them were foolish, some hurt, some were gloriously hilarious. I've come to this place in my life on a road strewn with misadventure. My mistakes more than my successes grew me, changed me, forced me along new and uncomfortable paths.
Of course some days, things worked out just as I planned. Those were not my best days.
