So I tell...

I'm a writer, not a talker, so I tell myself. Nobody was more surprised than I was to find me delivering the homily last Sunday at Church of the Transfiguration in Saluda, North Carolina, my home town. There were two priests in attendance to keep me straight. I strove to tell only the truth as far as I knew it. The big temptation for preachers is to tell people more than they know. If you're curious about all that was said and sung that day, here's a link to the worship service . Henry's books . Tonight...

It feels tonight like we may be in for some serious winter. November has her own bleak glory. It brings small comfort but it gains one's attention. Up on the high summits it has been snowing. Here on our little mountain it is dry and cold, with a wind that bites like dragon's teeth.
