Operative theory...

There is an economic theory operative in corporate boardrooms, I'm convinced, that propounds the populace might spend our way out of this Covid pandemic, or, at the very least, that business should exploit it as a unique opportunity to maximize profits. Every day, I receive multiple emails urging me to buy before I die. Invariably, these exhortations include images of all the stuff marketing experts, assisted by their AI, have calculated that I am just dying (no pun intended) to max out my plastic in order to possess. Spell...

Nights when everybody with a sound mind in this town is fast asleep, one crazy old coot is awake to the dark, pecking away, piling up words. It isn't that I need to get one more novel published, and I'd be the last person to know if anybody out there wants to read one more from me.

But I do know there's another story in it somewhere, and I won't be able to rest easy until I know how it winds up, and the only way I can know that is to write it. There's a whole tribe of paper people who keep talking in my sleep and they won't shut up until I spell it all out.
