Stories are born in places. People and plots come on slow and later. Sometimes the simplest image, the flicker of light on water, the shadow of a tree branch dancing with the wind, the glide of a hawk against a true-blue sky, is enough to set off a tale. Earth herself is the oldest story we know. Humans are just minor details. One day, when I’ve learned to see deeply enough, I may be able to write a novel with no people in it at all.

  1. I love that idea - and if anyone can write that novel, you can.
