Never too late...

Yes, it is August and summer is half over, but there were about a dozen basil seedlings left languishing in the starter bed, and on faith and a promise, I transplanted them where they have plenty of sun and room to grow. I'm betting we'll get one or two good batches of pesto out of them before fall.

The starter bed is in a protected spot by the kitchen with good sun in early spring, which makes it an excellent place to sow herbs and tomatoes for transplanting later. By summer, though, it is in heavy shade, and anything left behind there is starved for light.
