First of the season...
The solitary blueberry bush who rewarded us on our first spring here with a bounty of sweet juicy berries, has continued to outdo herself each succeeding year, even though she has no neighbors for cross polination. I've attempted to grow additional plants from cuttings without success. This fall, I will buy some plants to set out.
Sister Blue seems to thrive and prosper without any attention from me at all. Above are the first handful of ripe berries this season. Store-boughten berries don't begin to compare with these in terms of flavor There are plenty more on the way, but I'll have to race the birds for them.
