Down in the glen...

Matteuccia struthiopteris has apparently gained a foothold down in the hügelkultur glen. The native azaleas preceding are also doing well, all leafed out by now. Maybe a bloom or two next year. Over time, the area should become a nice place to sit and read, or maybe pray, cool in the high shade of pine and hemlock, catching the breeze wafting along the slope, birdsong by morning and peepers at dusk, then owls when fireflies spark the dark.

Henry's books.
