Sentient...

An abundance of native holly trees (ilex opaca) populate our little place. Most of them are likely decended from the two mature trees, a male and female, growing on the hill above the house. We can only guess at the age of this pair. If they were planted when the house was built, they are around 130 years old. Although they have obviously suffered repeated trauma over their time, they stand over 40 feet tall now, and exude a presence that feels sentient.

Henry's books.

    1. Marianne, you're kinder than this old man deserves. "Hidden..." has been on my list for some time, but I haven't gotten it yet. Have you read, "The Overstory" (Richard Powers)? Fiction, but about that same Secret World.

    2. I have not read that yet but I will now! Thank you for the suggestion. I have ordered a copy of "Hidden Life.." and it will be delivered to Jane Ella's studio - I hope that is good and I hope you enjoy it. A friend gifted me with an Amazon card for Christmas and I have been having great fun gifting other people using that card - so much more fun than spending on myself (-:

    1. Overstory is on the way, Marianne. Give me about a year for my next one, likely a second collection of short stories.
